MALOLOS CITY, Philippines -- Fire broke out at the Bulacan provincial capitol here on Wednesday morning.
No one was hurt in the fire, said fire officer Manuel Lopez of the Malolos fire station.
But he said documents, files and computers in the capitol’s accounting office were destroyed by the blaze, which started at 4:30 a.m. The office is located on the second floor of the capitol.
Thomas Baun Jr., a security guard at the capitol, said his fellow guards, Narcisco Cruz Jr. and Demetrio Nicodemus, who were on duty when the fire broke out, did not notice any person in or near the office before they saw smoke coming from the accounting office.
The fire was put out at 4:45 a.m., preventing it from spreading to the other offices, Lopez said.
The cause of the blaze was being investigated, he said.
