AS OF Friday, fire incidents in Davao City are lower than last year's, the Bureau of Fire Protection reported.
A total of P70-million damage to properties have been caused by 151 fires so far this year.
Last year's figures were P87-million damage to properties caused by 174 fire incidents.
The months of March, April, and September had the most number of fire incidents, each with 17.
While February recorded the most damage to property with an estimated value of P12 million worth of damages for the recorded 9 fire incidents in the month.
As of December 22, there were already 13 incidents of fire reported for the month of December alone.
The Bureau of Fire Protection urges the public to be careful in using electrical materials, especially Christmas lights that do not have the quality seal of the Department of Trade and Industry.
Most of the fires were accidental or are due to faulty electrical wiring. Arson accounted for less than two percent of the causes of fire.
