DATU PIANG, Maguindanao — Fire destroyed structures built in the early 1900s here and some P25 million worth of pieces of property and goods at a public market. Mayor Samer Uy said among those destroyed were dozens of wooden buildings, built by Chinese traders who settled here in the early 1900s. Datu Piang’s public market is near the bank of the Rio Grande de Mindanao, which served as the main route for goods coming in and out of Maguindanao.
