FIRE, typhoons, floods are among the calamities that hit Iloilo City these days.

One of these is the fire in Bolilao, Mandurriao Monday where 23 houses were destroyed and five were damaged.

The fire started at around 12 noon at the house of Azucena Katipunan. It burned neighboring houses and stopped when the rain poured at 2 p.m.

According to SFO3 Edmund Tipauan from the Bureau of Fire Protection, P1.2 million worth of properties and valuables were damaged.

There was no record of any casualty.

The houses destroyed were owned by Renato Azuelo, Joe Abayon, Renalyn Pama, Jayson Galarpe, Eddie Gases, Wilson Galarpe, Devine Dayot, Aida Lopez, Ricky Ca?ete, Pet Moreno, Rose Llena, a certain Virgie, Johnny Amallon, Angeline Asuatigue, Joseph Capural, Josefa Capural, Patricia Mallorca, Ricky Azuelo, Merlie Azuelo, Zusimo Lalata, Michel Bartolome, and Richard Andrada.

Houses damaged are owned by Lolita Esclamira, Analyn Latoza, Nelia Carmen, Thelma Trabasas and Felino Catipunan.

Tipauan said that they are still conducting an investigation on the cause of the fire.
