Phil. Daily Inquirer, Dec. 27, 2005
THE DEPARTMENT of Health (DoH) has recorded 70 cases of fireworks-related injuries, three stray bullet injuries and five cases of "watusi" (dancing firecracker) ingestion from December 21 to 27.
There was one death.
The data were culled from sentinel hospitals nationwide by the DoH’s National Epidemiology Center.
Most of the cases were recorded in Metro Manila.
Half of those injured handled the pyrotechnics directly, while the rest were onlookers and passersby. Eleven had to have amputations.
