QUEZON City’s “killer highway,” Commonwealth Avenue, claimed another life yesterday after a woman bringing her daughter to school was hit and killed by a speeding bus. Lolita Cisneros, 43, was crossing the avenue at 5:30 a.m. with 10-year-old daughter Marjorie, when a passenger bus rammed into them near corner Zuzuarigue Street, according to Quezon City traffic police. The bus from Gasat Bus Lines, with plate number TWV-603, sped away instead of stopping. Cisneros died instantly, while her daughter, a grade school pupil, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the East Avenue Medical Center. The driver was still at large as of press time, but the manager of the bus company had reportedly offered to shoulder the family’s hospital and funeral expenses. Commonwealth Avenue is one of the most dangerous roads in Metro Manila, according to data from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
