IMUS, CAVITE - Seven people from two families were burned to death after a fire razed their house in Imus, Cavite, early morning Monday.
Senior Superintendent Benjardi Mantele, Cavite provincial police director, said the fire occurred around 6: 30 a.m. in Villa Primarosa, Barangay Buhay, Tubig.
Mantele identified the fatalities as Virginia, 50; Edwin, 50; Angelo, 12; and Jelly, 16, of the Barnis family, and Ninin Pilapil, 23; Shay Pilapil, 15; and a 17-year-old member of the Pilapil clan.
The victims were asleep when their neighbors heard a loud explosion they believed was caused by a leaking liquefied petroleum gas tank.
The fire quickly engulfed the house, trapping all the victims on the second floor. Arson investigators are determining the cost of damage.
