AT LEAST two persons were injured after a gasoline tanker exploded in front of a petroleum station in Quezon City on Tuesday, officials said.
The tanker exploded at around 4:12 p.m., while parked in front of a Shell gasoline station at number 69, Kalayaan Avenue in Central village, said Chief Superintendent Nicasio Radovan, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) commander.
In a radio interview, Chief Inspector Oscar Villegas, who led a team of firefighters who responded to the incident, identified the injured as Dencio Argomedo and Rodrigo Wayan.
The fire caused by the explosion was declared under control at around 4:30 p.m., Radovan said in a phone interview.
Officials could not immediately ascertain the cause of the explosion.
Villegas said the tanker was empty at the time of the incident.
