A SIX-FOOT wall collapsed on a construction foreman, killing him instantly in a freak accident Sunday morning in Quezon City.
Workers of ITP Construction digging a hole along Lopez-Jaena Street in Barangay (village) Doņa Aurora were taking a break at 8:15 a.m. when their foreman Lito Bueno, 41, inspected the area, police said.
Suddenly, a wall in front of the construction site collapsed over Bueno and another worker who managed to jump to safety, said PO3 Gervie Guban of the Galas Police Station.
The foreman had tried to dive underneath a dump truck but failed. He was pinned between the wall and the truck in front of 68 Lopez Jaena near corner E. Rodriguez, Guban said.
Bueno died instantly, but it took four hours for the rescue units from police and the Metro Manila Development to break up the debris and extricate his body, Guban added.
