A FORMER village captain, earlier detained for illegal possession of firearms and for mauling his girlfriend, was frisked after setting his own house on fire in Barangay Callawa, Buhangin, Davao City, Wednesday afternoon.

Arrested by the barangay officials of Callawa is one Jeorge Tajo, 42, of the same barangay.

Tajo is now detained at the Buhangin police precinct, where he was endorsed at around 5 p.m.

Police have yet to determine why Tajo burned his own house.

"His neighbors panicked, fearing their houses will be caught by the fire. So he (Tajo) was arrested. But it was only his house, which was damaged by the fire," SPO1 Alfredo Rubrico told Sun.Star Davao.

It was not, however, known whether Tajo was under the influence of liquor or illegal drugs when the incident happened.
